In pet owner communities and across social media, information spreads that sounds reasonable about pet coat care — but is mostly clinically wrong. Here are the five most dangerous myths and the scientific reality behind each one.

Myth 1: "A Gentle Human Shampoo Is Fine for Pets"

❌ Completely false. Dog and cat skin has a fundamentally different pH profile from human skin. Human skin sits at pH 4.5–5.5. Dog skin ranges from pH 6.5–7.5. Using a human shampoo — however "gentle" — destroys your pet's Acid Mantle, the invisible protective layer that forms the skin's primary immune defense. Myth 2: "Bathing Too Often Causes Dry Skin and Hair Loss"
